Below are a selection of just a few of Scott’s instruments.

The Baroque drums are lapped with thick white calf skins, making them perfect for Bach, Handel and early Mozart.  They are of German origin, and are tuned by tuning each individual ‘tap’.

The Boosey and Hawkes drums are of similar diameter to the Baroque but are much deeper making them useful for similar repertoire but with slightly larger forces. A larger Handel's 'Messiah' or Haydn's 'Creation', for example.

The Salonpauke  are lapped with thin, high quality Kalfo skins.  Deeper and larger in diameter than the Baroque and Boosey and Hawkes drums, these drums are ideal for playing Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann.  They were made in Dresden between 1910 -1930.  Their design was inspired by the early machine timpani and instead of turning each individual tap it is only necessary to turn one per drum.

The Ludwig Pro Symphonic Timpani are versatile modern orchestral timpani.  These timpani are used for modern orchestral concerts and sessions.  These drums have plastic skins which are not only designed to make a large, round and warm sound in large smphony orchestras but are more robust than their natural counterparts making them ideal for the varied, demanding repertoire and frequent moving and transporting inherent in the life of a freelance timpanist.  Each drum is tuned with a foot pedal.
