Scott Bywater

Timpanist Scott Bywater performs with Britain's finest orchestras, including The London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The London Mozart Players, Britten Sinfonia, English National Opera and The BBC Concert Orchestra.  He has worked with great conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davies, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Mistlav Rostropovich.

Scott is in demand as both timpanist and orchestral percussionist but he specialises as a timpanist.  A particular interest and passion for Early Music and Authentic Performance has led him to perform some of the Baroque repertoire's masterpieces with ensembles such as The Academy of Ancient Music, The Gabrieli Consort, The London Mozart Players and The Hanover Band, with conductors including Christopher Hogwood, Paul Macreesh and Sir Charles Mackerras.

Notable performances include Mahler's Second with the RPO, 'Don Giovanni' at the Royal Opera House, Bach's 'Christmas Oratatorio' with the AAM and and Berlioz’s 'Symphony Fantastique' with The LSO and Bournemouth Symphony.

Notable recording successes include the CD 'Proclamation' with the International Celebrity Trumpet Ensemble. This group includes world renowned players Paul Archibald, Maurice Murphy and Hans Gansch. Please explore the Listen page to hear excerpts from this and other recordings.

In 2007 Scott accepted Associateship of the Royal Academy of Music, offered to past students of the Academy who have distinguished themselves in the music profession and made a significant contribution to it in their particular field.
